After many years of leading kite surfing lessons in various locations around the world and managing several schools, Noosa Kiteboarding School based in the Sunshine Coast has been setup with only two things in mind. Safety for its students and the highest quality lesson that can be found in Australia. I pride myself on the fact that my school operates in such a fashion that the students are taught all the appropriate skills and theory that will ensure they kite safely and as quickly as possible without having to pay for more lessons than absolutely needed.
The lesson times only run for 2 and a half hours and it is conducted in a one on one environment. From experience most people after 2 and half hours tire and start to make silly mistakes which lead to frustration and so the learning stops. Anything less than 2 and half hours and you're pushed for time to really cover enough to get a feeling of progression.
Being one on one allows total focus on the student, need I say more!
Use of Radio helmets means the instructor is in contact at all times with the student and best of all there is no yelling!!
Kite Surfing Lesson Structure follows a general pattern as follows, note this is over several kiteboarding lessons.(one on one allows flexibility)
Start flying a kite straight away, a little land based training kite that allows you to learn basic kite skills without being pulled around
Learn about the wind window, wind theory, apparent wind, basic aerodynamics(what I call the penny drop section, when most of my students go ahhhhhh! That’s why.)
Learn Setup and site selection
Launching and landing techniques, using the safety system in an emergency and self launching and landing
Learn to fly the kite slowly along the edge of the window and to control it at a specific spots with no kite movement.
